Here’s your guide to some of the best Thanksgiving events and activities happening next week!
1. Thanksgiving Eve Bash – Downtown Akron
Kick off the holiday weekend at the lively Thanksgiving Eve Bash in downtown Akron. This favorite annual event features music, drinks, and plenty of fun as locals and visitors alike kick off their holiday celebrations. The bash starts on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, with doors opening at 6 p.m. at Cliffside Club and other great Akron venues.
2. Cranksgiving Akron 2025
Looking for a way to do good while having fun? Join Summit Cycling Center’s Cranksgiving—an annual charity bike ride and food drive. Cyclists collect food donations from around the city as part of a scavenger hunt, helping fill local food bank shelves just in time for Thanksgiving. Meet on Saturday morning, November 22nd, at Summit Cycling Center, 222 S. Main St., Akron, for this family-friendly event.
3. The 44th Annual Holiday Tree Festival – Akron
While not strictly a Thanksgiving event, this beloved holiday kickoff runs through November 23 at the John S. Knight Center downtown. Stroll through beautifully decorated trees, enjoy live music, and maybe spot Santa. The festival includes Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, November 22 for families with young children (registration required).
4. “Home Run for the Homeless” 5K & Turkey Trots
Get moving before your Thanksgiving feast, and support a great cause by joining the Home Run for the Homeless 5K in Akron. Turkey Trot races are happening throughout the area—find the one nearest you to start Thanksgiving morning with exercise and community spirit.
5. Family Hikes, Gratitude Activities, & More
Thanksgiving is also the perfect time to enjoy Summit County’s beautiful parks. O’Neil Woods Metro Park and the Seiberling Nature Realm offer scenic trails for a peaceful family hike.
